DevonianHere is a unique trilobite from Indiana. This Phacops rana crassituberculata is well known from the Ohio outcrops around Sylvania, but rarely seen from Indiana. A small seam of Silica Shale is found in the northeast part of Indiana and this is where this nice specimen was found. It measures 1 1/4" wide.

DevonianHere is a common trilobite, but very unusual being found in Indiana. This trilobite, Phacops rana sp., is more thought of being found in the Devonian outcrops in Ohio then Indiana. In southern Indiana, there is a narrow band of Devonian that produces these Phacops preserved in chert instead of the normal calcium preservation. Is still has the great eye facets preserved and is perfectly enrolled. This unusual trilobite measures 1 1/4" wide.
