Macrostylocrinus striatusWaldron Shale FormationShelby County, INSilurianHere is another example of an extremely rare crinoid from the Waldron Shale Formation. This crinoid, Macrostylocrinus striatus, is only known from a handful of complete specimens. This crinoid has very ornate striations on the plate structure, hence the species name. The crown measures 1 1/4" long and is associated with some brachiopods and other Waldron Shale fauna. The rarity and beauty of this crinoid makes it one of the more sought after crinoids found in the Waldron Shale Formation.
