Eoscorpius carbonariusBrazil FormationGreene County, INPennsylvanianHere is an extremely rare land scorpion from the fossiliferous coal fields of southwestern Indiana. This specimen, Eoscorpius carbonarius, measures 2 1/4" long and found in a nodule that measures 3" long. It is nicely preserved with both claws and the tip of the tail is exposed. Under magnification, the body is extremely 3-D. The stinger, if there was one, is not preserved. This is the rarest Pennsylvanian nodule specimen found in Indiana. It may be one of the best specimens ever found in the Midwest.
