Here is a wonderful example of a horseshoe crab, Euproops danae, from the fossiliferous coal fields of southwestern Indiana. This was the very first horseshoe crab that I found after many weeks of hunting and cracking nodules. This excellent specimen measures 1" from the top of the cephalon to the tip of the spine.
