Adelophthalmus sp.Shelburn FormationSullivan County, INPennsylvanianHere is a wonderfully preserved and extremely rare Eurypterid from the fossiliferous coal fields of southwestern Indiana. This specimen, Adelophthalmus sp., measures 1 1/4" long and has some of the walking legs preserved. This specimen might represent a new species due to the vertical "bar" found on the head of this specimen.

This specimen, Adelophthalmus mansfieldi, measures 3/4" long and has one of the paddles preserved, a number of walking legs, and is complete almost to the telson.
