Coosella sp.Weeks Formation
Millard County, UT
CambrianHere is an absolutely beautiful and extremely rare Coosella sp. This trilobite was not known from the Weeks Formation until about 8 years ago when my father found this outstanding trilobite and Dr. Richard Robison from the University of Kansas identified it for me. The genus name Coosella originates from an outcrop of limestone in the Alabama area along the Coosia River that Walcott explored in the early 1900's. This trilobite is one of the best ever found and measures 7/8" long.
