Unidentified Cockroach
Shelburn Formation
Sullivan County, IN
Pennsylvanian

Here is a well preserved cockroach from the fossiliferous coal fields of southwestern Indiana. Even though cockroaches are the most numerous of all fauna that lived during the Pennsylvanian period, fossils of these are found few and far between. This outstanding specimen measures 1" long and has the wings folded over the abdomen. A truly outstanding specimen.
