Chiasmacantha ceratopsWeeks FormationMillard County, UT
CambrianHere is one of the weirdest and rarest of all the Weeks Formation trilobites. This trilobite, Chiasmacantha ceratops, is only known from a few specimens that have been found. This particular specimen was found in float so the actual stratigraphic level where it was found is unknown. It has an extremely large occipital spine and a number of axial spines that criss-cross across the axial rings. One of the strangest, if not the strangest, Cambrian trilobite ever found. This particular specimen measures 1/2" long.
